It seems like CBD is showing up everywhere these days, and people are talking about it. There has been significant media coverage and quite the buzz about its potential as a natural remedy for everything from epilepsy to chronic pain .Everybody wants to feel better, that’s natural. In fact, if they can do so naturally, it is even better. That is where CBD comes in, and, as it is quite likely you will come into contact with CBD in some way today, here is an easy introduction to what you need to know about CBD.

Opinions have dramatically shifted in recent years in regard to Cannabis, and that is where we have to start this overview. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannibinol), CBD (cannabidiol) is a completely non-psychoactive compound derived from the Cannibis Sativa plant. CBD is derived from hemp plants, THC comes from marijuana plants, they are cousins. CBD has become a popular option for people seeking natural treatment options for a variety of conditions mental and physical.

Despite initial skepticism, ranging from the simple fact that it is a Cannibis compound to the astonishing scope of its healing potential in a wide variety of medical conditions, the research and anecdotal evidence lined up to indicate that CBD helps people. After years of little to no research, studies revealed that cannabis has many medicinal applications, including anti-oxidant,  anti-inflammatory, and anti-anxiolitic properties.  Anti-anxiolitic means anti-anxiety.  CBD may help with anxiety, which in it’s own right is huge, since most drugs used to treat anxiety can be quite habit forming and CBD presents an alternative way to help the body heal itself naturally.

The World Health Organization  (WHO) published a report that indicated that CBD is not addictive and has no potential for abuse or dependence. This is  largely due to the absence of addictive substances, THC differs in this regard although both are cannabinoids. Simply put, CBD will not get you high, but it may make you feel better.

CBD has shown potential to treat depression, insomnia, anxiety, PTSD, epilepsy, and chronic pain. Studies are continuing and the potential benefits of CBD are being uncovered with greater frequency.

Generally speaking, CBD is legal in all 50 states. It is legal at the federal level and in most states. Laws governing cannabis related issues are becoming less strict, but it is always advisable to research local and state statutes.
